A PICTURE SPEAKS A THOUSAND WORDS
Bahram Maskanian
Dec. 20, 2005
Dear Fellow Humankind,
Early 2004 I became aware of a few alarming reports about the existence of a highly active slave trade within and around Iran. I began researching the issue and soon found out that not only the barbaric and tragic problem of human trafficking and slavery exists in Iran, but that the criminal mullah’s regime profits on the sacrifice of defenseless young Iranian women and men. Based on my research, and also on the testimony of a few survivors of this heinous practice, I wrote a screenplay for a feature film entitled: - Shackles - Womankind Enchained - with the objective of shocking the world while shaming and exposing the bastards involved in this savage practice.
For the past year I have sent over 4800 letters to the gatekeepers of the entertainment industry to elicit their support and investment for making - Shackles - Womankind Enchained - into a feature film. But alas, to no avail… Unanimously, the majority of individuals who did bother to read the screenplay and respond back described the story as genuinely heartfelt, truthful, very powerful and extremely educational. In addition, many claimed that they cried and at times also laughed. However, the conclusion of all respondents was that the story is indeed thought provoking and controversial, thus it would be risky to produce due to today's political climate in the US.
The responses have convinced and encouraged me to seek a new approach to raise funds. I also realized that the need to publicly finance our truth-telling enlightening entertainment programming and film production is as vital and realistic as the need to publicly finance our social and political governing system.
If you agree with the need to raise the grievous issue of slavery to the world’s attention I urge you to help in the making of - Shackles - Womankind Enchained - into a feature film. Please consider buying an advance ticket for ten dollars ($10) to help fund the production. You shall receive your ticket(s) as soon as the film production is completed via US mail.
