ALASKA PERMANENT FUND BOARD CONFIRMATION COMMITTEE FORMED
Theresa Obermeyer
Jul. 10, 2006
Please review http://www.apfboardconfirmation.org about Alaska Statute 37.13050(a) "The Board of Trustees of Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation consists of six members appointed by the Governor." Therefore, Alaska Permanent Fund Board of Trustees is not confirmed by Alaska Legislature so there is not a system of "checks and balances" or a way to create any level of accountability by Alaska Permanent Fund Board (APFB) which controls $34,000,000,000.00. As http://www.apfboardconfirmation.org shows, the practices of APFB currently are to enrich their private banks accounts by investing astronomically in the Stock Market. Please download APFBs' signatures on their "Individual Investment Transaction Disclosures." APFB is only a political slush fund for the Governor of Alaska currently. Who is going to be the watchdog of the practice of APFB? Certainly not our appointed Alaska Attorney General David Marquez who is a member of APFB. All APFB has become is a way for a handful of very wealthy men to amass more wealth. APFB should be taxed if their current practices continue. Please download the questionnaire that we have mailed to all the candidates on the Primary Ballot Tuesday, August 22, 2006.
Let's debate the issue of Alaska Permanent Fund Board Confirmation before the Gubernatorial Election Campaign before the Primary, Tuesday, August 22. Ask the candidates if they support confirmation of this Board.
