Comment: This email is being sent to media outlets, newspapers and civil rights groups in order to PROTEST and draw attention to the outrageous attacks upon Bible College in Arizona, Glenn Spencer, the Minutemen Project and other Patriots by the Cochise County Supervisors and the Governor of Arizona. The following news articles will describe in more detail the problems: It is hoped that one or more of the civil rights will come to their aid. Arizona politicians should be looking for ways to combat the illegal invasion as the following article describes in Idaho:

Canyon County Tries New Tactic for Illegal Invaders: The Idaho Statesman, April 9, 2005

[ Note that every comment that Mr. Newman makes against these Patriots SHOULD BE MADE AGAINST THE ILLEGAL INVADERS]

Subject:    Newman Wants Permit for MMP
Note below Supervisor Paul Newman wants the Americans to get a permit and says "Our law must be protected"(!). So instead of coming down on Americans, he should be coming down on the illegal alien law-breaking invaders! By the way, there is a great article in the Fri., 2/25 edition of the Citizen by Cal Thomas called: "Citizen Patrol Along Border Is Great Idea". He says, "I like this idea. At a time when both poliical parties seem intent on shilling for the Hispanic votes by refusing to adequately enforce immigration laws, citizens volunterring to cooperate in the enforcement of those laws are in the grand American tradition of power and authority flowing from the people to the government and not the reverse." New article:
Newman wants border group to get permits to patrol

BISBEE - Supervisor Paul Newman wants organizers of a volunteer group coming to Cochise County to have a county permit to patrol the border. Newman, vice chairman of the county Board of Supervisors, said the "national call-to-arms for the Minuteman vigilantes" to gather in April means the county must take action to ensure the public is safe by requiring permits. County Planning and Zoning Director Jim Vlahovich, who met with one of the Minuteman Project organizers after Newman's Friday press conference, said a county permit for a planned two-day demonstration in front of the U.S. Border Patrol's Naco Station is not needed. However, approval from the county Highway and Floodplain Department is needed for the April 2 and 3 demonstration, since the group plans to use the right of way along the highway by the station, he added. Vlahovich met with Tombstone resident and newspaper owner Chris Simcox after the press conference to discuss the permit problem. Simcox, who formed the Civil Homeland Defense to stem the flow of illegal activities crossing the border a couple of years ago, is one of the organizers of the Minuteman Project. Before reading a statement, Newman said U.S. citizens have a right to assemble and it was not his goal to impede on constitutional rights. The supervisor, whose district includes the public area between Douglas and Naco, said he is concerned about public safety. "Although my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors disagree with me, I believe it is irresponsible for us to sit back take a wait-and-see attitude in light of a large gathering of armed individuals whose purpose is to take the law into their own hands," Newman said. Calling on the two other supervisors, Chairman Pat Call and Richard Searle, to join him in requiring permits, Newman said, "If this were a rock concert, there is no question that the county could require permits and impose restrictions. We should provide at least as much oversight of this potentially volatile month-long event." Call responded during a telephone interview Friday. "I believe the Minuteman Project is publicly pushing its own political agenda. I believe Mr. Newman's comments are all about publicly pushing his own personal political agenda," Call said. Newman appears to be suggesting the Board of Supervisors limit people's rights to free speech and assembly before they have taken out a permit, Call said. Minuteman Project volunteers will have to obey county rules and regulations, he said. The group will be watched by law enforcement, especially the county Sheriff's Department. County officials are working with federal agencies, too. "If they (the volunteers) don't (stay within the law), the response will be appropriate and quick," Call said. According to the Minuteman Project Web site, 531 volunteers from 47 states and Canada have signed up to come to the county as of Wednesday. In his written statement, Newman referred to the Minuteman Project as "gun-toting vigilantes." When he read the statement, he changed that phrase to "the Minutemen." He used the word vigilantes other times. Calling the group vigilantes was too much for Marine Corps veteran Al Garza of Huachuca City. "We're not vigilantes," Garza said. The group also is not a white supremacist organization, he added. "Just look at me," said Garza, who is Hispanic. Saying the Minuteman Project is well organized, Garza said there is no doubt in his mind the people will be well behaved. Simcox said most of the volunteers have law enforcement or military experience and as such are disciplined. Volunteers are checked out to weed out individuals who could cause problems, he said. Simcox also said organizers are working with the FBI checking out volunteers. However, a Phoenix FBI spokeswoman said the agency is not supporting the Minuteman Project with background checks or doing anything else for the private organization. Newman said sources told him volunteers would be staying on property owned by American Border Patrol head Glenn Spencer. The American Border Patrol is a private group that is not associated with the U.S. Border Patrol. "That is a flat-out lie," Spencer said in a telephone interview. "I have nothing to do with it (the Minuteman Project)." Spencer said bringing volunteers from across the country "on balance is worthwhile effort and worth the risk." But, he said, ensuring there will be complete control of the volunteers "will be like herding cats" because disciple can break down. The only support Spencer is giving the Minuteman Project is a radio for the volunteers to call him saying where they have seen a group of illegal immigrants or drug smugglers. The American Border Patrol will not share information of where it has seen illegal activities to the volunteer group, he added. Newman emphasized the law will have a stronger hand by requiring permits. Likening law enforcement to the Gary Cooper character in "High Noon," Newman said, "Our law must be respected." "Without control, the crowd could turn into a mob," the supervisor said. In a written counterstatement, Simcox called Newman's views a means to create panic. "Mr. Newman's statements represent a most vile and despicable defamation of character of American citizens," the statement said. Calling Newman's comments "hate speech," Simcox said the supervisor's irresponsible statements are biased. "Mr. Newman should be ashamed of his comments that are based in fear bred from ignorance," Simcox's statement read. As for the supervisor's concern that the volunteers will take the law into their own hands, Simcox said the volunteers will "engage in nothing more than sitting in lawn chairs with binoculars to spot suspicious illegal activity and report to the proper authorities and to provide lifesaving aid to individuals in need of assistance." Tombstone Mayor Andree De Journett was at Newman's press conference. Sitting next to Newman, De Journett said on April 1 a rally is planned in Tombstone and no permit is needed. The mayor said it is the right of people to meet to make their views known. While De Journett expects no problems during the rally in Tombstone, he said there will be extra law enforcement present. Newman said the large group of volunteers expected in April may lead to other problems. There may be counterdemonstrations. To control that possibility, Newman said he want to make sure those who oppose the Minuteman Project have county-issued permits if an event is going to take place in the unincorporated area of the county. Newman also questioned the additional strain on the county by people moving in for a short period of time. A proposed place for volunteers to park RVs or to stay in dormitories is the Miracle Valley Bible College and Seminary in Palominas. Melvin Harter, president of the college, said rentals are being done as a fund-raiser. He admitted that a special-use permit will be required. Vlahovich said time is running out to complete the process because of county rules for issuing special-use permits. Simcox was told of the process, he said. Unlike a temporary use permit that can be issued by the planning department in a week, a special-use permit requires the county's Planning and Zoning Commission to make recommendations to the county supervisors, Vlahovich said. With legal notices required and other procedures, and even with a faster process, it will be difficult to meet the April 1 start of the arrival of volunteers, he said. HERALD/REVIEW senior reporter Bill Hess can be reached at 515-4615.
As I reported last night, the Miracle Valley Bible College & Seminary did receive a letter from the Cochise County Zoning Enforcement informing them of the potential of a $750.00 a day fine that could be levied against them and it is related to the Minuteman Volunteers staying in the dorms and on the property.  The 8 page letter can be viewed here.

I spoke with Dr. Melvin E. Harter, President, Miracle Valley Bible College & Seminary this evening.  According to Dr. Harter, he did meet with James E. Vlahovich and others in Zoning, he filled out the paperwork and went to apply for the special use permit.  More paperwork was requested and in the end was told by, James E. Vlahovich, "No permit will be issued!"  This being the case Dr. Harter said, "So, I did not file, why throw away $30.00."  Dr. Harter tells me that James E. Vlahovich made the statement in front of witnesses and that they will testify under oath to these statements.   There is a lot more to this story that will come out over time that is sperate from the Minute Man Project, lets just say I have contacted the ACLJ.

The official Cochise County position is here.

Dr. Harter and his colleagues chose to support the MinuteMan Project knowing that they would be challenged by Cochise County, so I am asking you to continue to put pressure on Cochise County.  Pointing out that you may be inclined to believe their official story at some level, with a few exceptions. However, that you are more inclined, under all of the circumstances leading up to this event, to believe Dr. Harter's representation of the events that took place.  At a minimum there are at least three people responsible for this action against the Bible College, James E. Vlahovich, Rick Corley and Paul Newsman. These three, outside of the Mayor of Douglas, have been the driving force in Cochise County agianst the MMP.  I guess what I am asking you to do when you contact Cochise County, is thank everyone else you talk to about there support of the MMP, and let them know just how wrong Vlahovich's actions are.

Today when his office number (520-432-9240) was called, secretaries reflect Vlahovich's contempt for taxpaying voters by lying. They tell the caller his call is being forwarded to Vlahovich, but then they forward the call to the local Sheriff's office. (If this happens to you, tell the sheriff that as a voter, you hope his office is not complicit in this fraud.)

But Vlahovich has a fax machine, too!

SEND HIM A FAX RIGHT NOW! (520) 432-9278
Simply and politiely tell him the following:
Mr Vlahovich- Your action against the Miracle Valley Bible College is despicable and reflects a flagrant disregard for constitutional rights, a flagrant disregard for the interests of voting, tax-paying citizens. This politically motivated harassment is a serious abuse of county power and is not going unnoticed by tax-paying voters and activists.
You should also give the Cochise County Board of Supervisors a call:

Pat Call, Chairman     Phone (520)432-9200    Fax (520)432-5016

Paul Newsman     Phone (520)432-9200    Fax (520)432-5016

Richard Roddis Searle   Phone (520)432-9200  Fax (520)432-5016

They won't put you through to any of these people, but (unlike Vlahovich's secretaries) they are still taking messages. Tell them to take this message:

"Please tell  xxx that my name is xxx and I am calling to register my protest of James Vlahovich's political harassment of the Miracle Valley Bible College. I am a taxpaying, voting citizen, and I am very offended and disturbed by this despicable abuse of public power."   NO MATTER WHAT, DO NOT USE ANY PROFANITY OR SAY ANYTHING THAT COULD REMOTELY BE CONSTRUED AS A THREAT OF VIOLENCE

My personal thoughts on this challenge facing us, "I am inclined to believe this has everything to do with the MMP, maybe a little broader having to do with the profit in illegal activity on the border and on the side Vlahovich gets something he has been after for some time now, cripple the Bible College. What ever Cochise County is saying now, Vlahovich resolved in the beginning to never issue a permit to the Bible College to house the MMP."

To top this all off, this very same Zoning Commission, levied charges against Glenn Spencer today, more information here.
(3)  MMP being fined $750 per day by Cochise County

Each of us will likely draw our own conclusions; the issue has been posted and discussed on dozens of blogs.  I'll offer a few sources to add to others you may already have.

Clearly the issue has a history because Cochise County Supervisor Paul Newman wanted to do everything he could to prevent the Minutemen even before the Bible College HQ was known for sure:
"Newman wants border group to get permits to patrol," Sierra Vista Herald, February 26, 2005,

I learned another bit of history on April 1 when I delivered my "ride-along buddy" to the Bible College and remained while Mrs. Harter registered him.  She told us that because of their decision to offer their facility to the Minutemen, the Bible College received letter from AZ Governor Janet Napolitano notifying them that the Bible College is on the governor's "blacklist."  I didn't pursue it at the time, so I don't know what being on the "blacklist" involves, but I doubt the governor was thrilled to have the Minutemen accomodated there.

Russ Dove of Tucson is maintaining an account of what he's learned on the current situation:

And the Saturday morning Tucson Citizen has published a news story: "College facing fines for housing Minutemen without permit," Tucson Citizen, April 16, 2005,

Several people mentioned actually being able to talk to someone at Cochise County; my friend Fred send his impressions after his morning call:
"I called the guy, but he was hiding under his desk.  The Planning Dept receptionist said he had gotten thousand of calls.  I left him a message. I then call the County Supervisor's Office.  The receptionist there couldn't reach a Supervisor, so she told me to call Mr. Vlahovich.
Told her he was hiding.  She then passed me off to the County PIO (Public Information Officer).  She told me that the Bible College had violated zoning laws.  I asked her if the College was private and had dormitories.  She said yes.  Then I pressed her on what the specific violations were.  Naturally she was stumped.  I told her I attended and graduated from a church affiliated college in a small town and alumni were encouraged to stay in the dorms during Founders Week due to lack of hotel space.  Otherwise, some alums would never attend a large gathering.  Told her we were insisting on the specifics of how and why. I told her that since she obviously knew little about the matter and the Supervisors were ducking the issue, the Supervisors should direct Mr. Vlahovich, the Planning Director, to stop hiding and answer the citizens' questions.  Otherwise, we will believe that Cochise County is anti-Minutemen Project and pro-illegal immigration.  I reminded that that illegal immigration is against the law. I could tell that she was surprised to get such strident questioning."

I was able to speak with Carla in the late afternoon, and she seemed more confident of what she told me (maybe after a meeting where everyone heard the 'Party Line?').  She first assurred me that the proposed fine wasn't against the Minutemen but instead against the Bible College; she repeated several times that the County was very pleased with the conduct of the Minutemen.

She then said that the Bible College isn't being fined right now because the Planning & Zoning Director doesn't have that authority.  The Board of Adjustments makes that recommendation with a Hearing Officer, and the matter is scheduled for the May 15 session.

On the fine, she said it isn't a "per day" fine, but instead overall and that$750 is the maximum possible; any recommend fine might be much less or none at all.  (However, the BOS letter makes it clear that the fine IS a "per day" one, so that claim doesn't seem to hold).

Up to now, she didn't even mention what the issue/violation was, only reassured me that the Minutemen weren't affected.  When I asked the actual issue, she outlined that it was housing people in the dormitory rooms for more than 7 days.   She stated that housing in the dormitory more than 7 days requires a special permit and Dr. Harter didn't apply for that special permit.  She also said no special permit was needed for the RV parking or camping.  She said that Dr. Harter has applied for special permits in the past and is very familiar with the process.

Some who spoke with Supervisor Call posted the feedback on ==================

"I spoke with the Supervisor for the area, Pat Call. He said that the issue is NOT with the MMP, that the MMP has been exemplary in their conformity to the law and issues. They met with them well before the project began and they have done everything that was asked of them. There have been ZERO violations on the MMP's part. The issue is with Dr. Harder and the Miracle Valley Bible College. Dr. Harder was told that he would have to get the proper permits for RVs to park on his property among other things for the MMP event. He did not do so. A citation has been issued, but there is no fine yet set. The fine will be determined at a hearing in May, but the TOTAL FINE could only go as high as $750.00 NOT PER DAY BUT IN TOTAL, but it could also be as low as $10 and a slap on the wrist. That would be determined at the hearing. Pat Call said he went to the site the moment this came down and met with Jim Gilchrist. They WILL NOT be trying to run off the MMP volunteers, this is NOT A LAW ENFORCEMENT MATTER, that this is merely a zoning violation matter that will be settled with a fine (or not)at the hearing in May. He also said all of their phones are ringing off the wall.  Their email is also jammed due to response."

To share my conclusions:

(1)  The county seemed very eager to "divorce" Minutemen supporters from the Bible College, perhaps in the hope of isolating the Bible College from the overwhelming support of Minuteman by the American public.  Perhaps the old "divide and conquer" strategy?

(2)  Cochise County clearly wasn't prepared for the bombarding of phone calls and e-mails they received beginning Friday morning.  I'm sure they thought they'd stepped into a hest of hornets.

(3)  The "meeting" that P&Z Director was in was primarily for damage control.

(4)  Both Carla (the PIO) and Supervisor Call were effusive in their compliments to MMP on behavior, and eager to assure people that it wasn't anything against the Minutemen.  And "the check's in the mail," "I'll still respect you in the morning," and "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you."  We may not be the direct target, but the sudden need for "special permits" that hadn't been an issue before had everthing to do with Minuteman.  Supervisor Paul Newman stated to the Sierra Vista Herald his intention to stop the Minuteman Porject any way he could.

(5)  Minuteman supporters need to renew our support for the Bible College just prior to the May 15 Hearing.
America's Trojan Horse of Immigration:

1) Seal the border with Mexico by any means necessary.

2) Arrest and fully prosecute employers of illegal aliens.

3) Arrest and immediately deport all illegal aliens.

4.) Stop ALL programs and incentives for illegals.

5.) Deny birth baby citizenship and chain migration to illegals.

6.) Clarify arrest and detention authority to all U.S. state and local law officers. The Clear Act:

7.) Reduction of Visa programs with tighter controls and deportation of overstays.

8.) NO Amnesty of any kind.

9.) Stop FTAA and Other Globalist schemes.

10.) Declare a ten year moratorium on immigration to sort past excesses out.

11.) Encourage immigration attorneys, religious and minority groups who promote open borders to get honest, productive jobs.

12.) Eventually return to an immigration policy that is limited, highly selective, based upon standards and qualifications with national quotas. Countries such as Mexico who have abused our borders would have a negative rate of immigration for some time.

13.) Expose traitorous groups who seek personal profit or gain or to destroy America through lax immigration policies.

14.) Stop the use of Mexico's phony matricular consular card --- H.R. 815.

"I don't think that we will ever be able to get control of our borders, until the issue of our involvement in NAFTA and the up-coming new FTAA is decided.  This is not an issue about free trade versus protectionism.  Genuine free trade is brought about by removing government imposed obstacles to commerce among willing buyers and sellers.  But the profusion of so-called free trade agreements that have erupted onto the world scene over the past few years have been taking us in the opposite direction.  They are massive regulatory monstrosities thousands of pages long.  They are creating an edifice of supranational government, at regional and global levels, that increasingly is overriding our national and state laws, our Constitution, and our national independence. President Bush is a dedicated globalist, who believes in a One World Government.  He will therefore continue to tippy toe around the illegal alien problem, because under NAFTA and FTAA, our borders will not be allowed to keep out the illegal aliens.  Once the FTAA (Free Trade Agreement of the Americas) has been passed, the illegal aliens will become legal aliens!  We need to get educated to what Bush's agenda really means to our national sovereignty.  You must stop giving your support to Bush by involving yourself in the side issues.  These issues are neutralizing you, until the FTAA agreement is passed!" Perhaps we should go to the local corner hiring halls and pick up a few truck loads of these ILLEGALS and deliver them to the personal homes of these politicians and other open border advocates and tell the ILLEGALS that they are welcome to go in those homes and make themself at home - eating, drinking, having sex, helping themselves to any money found and they will not be interrupted by any law enforcement as they are just, 'tired and poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free'. I wonder how long this crap would go on if we did start doing that -  sure would be fun to watch.
