It's Time to Stop the ACLU!
Part 1
The so-called "American Civil Liberties Union" (ACLU) has for too long held America hostage via the liberal courts. The ACLU regularly promotes perversion and obscenity under "free speech" rights, and defends the homosëxual culture of death, fighting against abstinence education. They attack prayer or other Constitutionally protected religious speech of students, and discredit and weaken the family as an institution, working to get even the Boy Scouts banned. And this is just the start of it.
One of ICD's subscribers, Nedd Kareiva, has founded the "Stop the ACLU Coalition in an effort "to mobilize millions of God fearing patriotic Americans to stand up to the ACLU agenda and consigning it to the ash heap of history." Please become informed and get involved, before more of our historic freedoms are whittled away by this godless machine. It will take much spiritual warfare to win, but with God, all things are possible!
"In the name of 'tolerance,' the ACLU and those who consider the Boy Scouts 'subversive,' have no tolerance for the Boy Scouts -- or anyone else who disagrees with them."
--Joseph Farrah, Editor, World Net Daily
-
"The ACLU long ago decided it wanted to be Uncle Scrooge and expend its energies saying 'bah humbug' to public Christmas displays, but they are out of touch with the 96% of Americans that celebrate Christmas."
--Gary McCaleb, Senior Counsel for Alliance Defense Fund
"I am for socialism, disarmament and ultimately for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek social ownership of property.... Communism is the goal."
--Roger Baldwin, ACLU Founder
"Perhaps it's time to recognize the ACLU as the American Communist Lawyers Union instead of their disingenuous 'civil rights' stage name."

THE ACLU MUST BE DESTROYED
by Joseph Farah
November 17, 2004
Most Americans just laughed and shook our heads in disbelief years ago when a handful of extremists began systematically targeting the Boy Scouts as a "subversive organization." But over time, because most Americans didn't fight back, didn't marginalize the extremists, didn't speak up proudly and stand behind the Boy Scouts, it is this outstanding civic organization that has taken a beating.
The decision this week by the Defense Department to accommodate the American Civil Liberties Union at the expense of the Boy Scouts illustrates the way our country is being reshaped by the worldview of the extremists.
In case you missed it, the Pentagon has agreed to warn its bases not to sponsor Boy Scout troops in appeasement of the ACLU and end a 5-year-old lawsuit that had charged the government with improperly supporting a group promoting belief in God (Article). Our founding fathers must be spinning in their graves today.
If you take the ACLU and other extremists supporting its agenda at their word, you have to believe this fight is about "tolerance." They maintain they oppose the Boy Scouts because of their "intolerance" for people who don't embrace their values. And, in the name of "tolerance," the ACLU and those who consider the Boy Scouts "subversive," have no tolerance for the Boy Scouts -- or anyone else who disagrees with them.
The ACLU is never going to change. It is an anti-American organization. It is a group that seeks to destroy all that makes America a unique experiment in freedom. It is an organization in league with all of America's enemies. It is an organization that hates God, hates what is right, decent and morally upright. It is an organization in league with the Devil, as far as I am concerned.
And the ACLU is an organization that needs to be isolated, exposed for what it is, recognized for what it is and destroyed if necessary. Instead, because most Americans have a live-and-let-live attitude, we "tolerate" the ACLU. We wink at it. Maybe we laugh at it. But the ACLU and its allies continue to push our society, to transform it, to remake it in its own twisted image.
The Boy Scouts have been targeted by the ACLU and the homosexual activists because the Boy Scouts have been uncompromising in their views and standards. The subversives hate that. They hate when people stand up for what's right. When it becomes dangerous to stand up for what's right in America, you know we're in trouble as a Nation.
Let me ask you a question: Would you rather live next door to a family that hosts a Boy Scout troop or a family of homosexual activists? Would you rather live next door to a family of people who attend church or synagogue every week, or would you prefer to live next door to the local head of the ACLU?
What's so scary about the Boy Scouts? A Boy Scout pledges to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. A Boy Scout vows to keep himself physically strong, morally straight and mentally alert. And because of these characteristics and goals, the Boy Scouts today are under siege -- the latest target in the Culture War.
When you see an institution like this under attack, it should set off an internal warning that our very way of life -- not just the Boy Scouts -- is threatened by an organized, well-funded conspiracy. I know many do not like that word "conspiracy," but no other synonym in the English language is appropriate in this context.
Think about it. There are people in our society today who believe that it is unconstitutional for citizens to act on their moral judgments, such as the view that homosexuality is wrong. They believe that the state has the right coercively to dictate matters of conscience.
As these enemies of freedom, morality and responsibility see it, the Boy Scouts do not have the right to assert their First Amendment rights. And they are succeeding. As incredible as it may seem, they are winning this Culture War. The establishment press is their ally. The entertainment industry is their ally. The federal government is their ally. The schools are their allies. The foundations are their allies. The apostate churches and synagogues are their allies. Now, even the US military has become their ally.
It's time to reframe the debate. That's the only way our civilization, as we know it, can survive. It's time to tell the truth. It's time to stand up for decency. That we now live in a world in which it is dangerous to stand up for trustworthiness, loyalty, helpfulness, friendliness, courteousness, kindness, obedience, cheerfulness, bravery, cleanliness and reverence should be a warning to us all.
The stakes are high. I, for one, am taking a public stand in favor of the Boy Scouts. I like what they stand for. Even though I have never been a Scout or involved with the organization (as a father of five girls), I consider their goals and objectives beyond reproach.
I guess it's time to add me to the enemies list. I support the Boy Scouts -- unequivocally, unabashedly, unashamedly. The Boy Scouts personify the kind of world in which I would like to live and raise my family. If this is the new dividing line in our society, let the barricades be erected. I'm not retreating -- not another inch. Who's with me?

ACLU: LEGAL TERRORISTS
by George Putnam
Nov. 28, 2004
It is this reporter's opinion that it is now time to fight back. The latest attack on America comes with the Pentagon's agreement to warn its bases not to sponsor Boy Scout troops in appeasement of the ACLU and thus end a five-year-old lawsuit that charged our government with improperly supporting a group promoting belief in God. Our founding fathers and Lord Baden Powell, organizer of the Boy Scouts, must be rolling over in their graves!
The ACLU opposes the Boy Scouts because of their intolerance for people who don't embrace their values; and in the name of tolerance, the ACLU and those who consider the Boy Scouts subversive have no tolerance for the Boy Scouts or anyone else who disagrees with them.
Ever since I entered journalism, 70 years ago, this reporter has had a running battle with the ACLU. Take a look at the founding of the ACLU.
Roger Baldwin founded the ACLU in 1917 as the Bureau for Conscientious Objectors of the American Union Against Militarism. The name was changed to the Civil Liberties Bureau later that year when it became the National Civil Liberties Bureau after being raided by the FBI searching for evidence of subversive materials. On November 11, 1918, Baldwin began serving a one-year term in a federal prison for sedition. Upon his release from prison in 1920, he renamed the organization the American Civil Liberties Union.
Roger Baldwin left no doubt as to the purpose of the ACLU. Here is his direct statement: "I am for socialism, disarmament and ultimately for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek social ownership of property." And he concluded, "COMMUNISM IS THE GOAL." The ACLU has been described repeatedly as the "transmission belt of the Communist Party USA." It is an organization that needs to be isolated, exposed for what it does, recognized for what it is, and destroyed.
The ACLU supports legalization of child pornography, drugs and prostitution; tax exemption for Satanists; abortion on demand and mandatory sex education. The ACLU uses our court system to destroy the very moral fiber of America. And now the Boy Scouts of America is under attack. The ACLU, in its battle against our principles, uses blackmail and legal terrorism.
This reporter has participated in the Boy Scouts movement through the ranks since the age of 10 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, learning and living by the fact that a Boy Scout pledges to keep himself physically strong, morally straight and mentally alert -- learning and living by the Boy Scout laws to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. These goals of the Scout movement are under siege. It is an internal warning that America's very way of life is being threatened.
Recently, 700 lawyers under the Alliance Defense Fund have said enough is enough, and they are fighting back. They have contacted over 3,600 school districts nationwide during this Christmas season; at no cost to the school districts, these lawyers are combating any attempts to censor the celebration of Christmas at schools and on school property.
The goal of the ADF Christmas project is to clear misconceptions about seasonal religious expression on public property. The ADF lawyers are explaining to those willing to join us in the fray that we are on firm ground:
- The US Supreme Court has never ruled that public schools must ban the singing of religious Christmas carols or prohibit distribution of candy canes or Christmas cards.
- School officials may refer to a school break in December as "Christmas vacation" without offending the Constitution.
- School officials do not violate the Constitution by closing on religious holidays -- Christmas and Good Friday.
- No court has ever held that celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas as religious holidays requires recognition of all other religious holidays.
- The "Three Reindeer Rule" used by the courts requires a municipality to place a sufficient number of secular objects in close enough proximity to the Christmas items to render the overall display sufficiently secular. Christmas displays are not banned as some believe that celebrating the holiday or promoting religion.
What they are saying is that it's OK to say "Merry Christmas."
It is obvious that the ACLU will never change in its consistent intolerance of the American principles at the very core of our great country; therefore it becomes increasingly our responsibility to fight back wherever our American principles are violated, challenged by the ACLU -- an organization that hates God, hates what is right and decent. The ACLU has got to go!

ACLU FULFILLING COMMUNIST AGENDA
by Devvy Kidd
Dec. 3, 2004
Every day, the headlines scream with some new threat from the American Civil Liberties Union. I believe it's important to look behind the curtain and discover the origins of groups and organizations to better understand their activities. The ACLU was founded in the 1920s by Roger Baldwin and Crystal Eastman, described as a "progressive" and "the perfect feminist."
Earl Browder was general secretary of the Communist Party of the United States from 1930 through its dissolution in 1944. When the party was reconstituted as the Communist Political Association later that year, Browder was chosen as its president. Browder proudly proclaimed that the ACLU functioned as "a transmission belt" for the party. To deny the ACLU's founding was attached at the hip to communist organizations is to deny what can easily be proven as truth.
For the past few decades, the ACLU has been on a major crusade to destroy Christianity in America, promote filth under "freedom of speech and expression," and of course, vigorously defend the homosexual culture of death. On Jan. 10, 1963, Congressman Albert S. Herlong Jr., D-Fla., read a list of 45 communist goals into the Congressional Record. Below are the communist goals being implemented by the ACLU in their quest to destroy America's culture and traditions:
- Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions, by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
- Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
- Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all form of artistic expression. An American communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings," substituting shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.
- Control art critics and directors of art museums. "Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art."
- Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press.
- Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and television.
- Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural and healthy."
- Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity, which does not need a "religious crutch."
- Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the grounds that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state."
- Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of "the big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the communists took over. Obliterating the American past, with its antecedents in principles of freedom, liberty and private ownership is a major goal of the communists then and now.
- Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture – education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
- Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity and easy divorce.
Anyone who has been following the destructive path of the ACLU can easily see how effective these communist goals have been implemented to "promote democracy" and protect your "civil rights." Lenin stated: "Communism alone is capable of providing really complete democracy." (See Tucker, "The Lenin Anthology"). James Madison, known as the "Father of the Constitution" had something different to say about a democracy:
Democracy is the most vile form of government ... democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention, have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property, and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths.
Perhaps it's time to recognize the ACLU as the American Communist Lawyers Union instead of their disingenuous "civil rights" stage name.
No organization can exist without memberships and funding. It is inconceivable to me how anyone who claims to be a Christian, lawyer or layman, could belong to such an anti-American organization as the ACLU. Burn your card and get out. Organizations like Working Assets, tobacco companies and big corporations all donate to the ACLU, which in turn uses that money to buy the favors of those who serve in Congress – who vote to unconstitutionally fund the activities of the ACLU under the Civil Rights Attorney's Fees Awards Act of 1976.
If Americans really want to put the ACLU out of business, remove yourself as a member of their organization, boycott companies that donate to them and demand these public servants in Congress repeal the unconstitutional funding of this subversive organization. There is no justification under Art. 1, Sec. 8, to steal from the people's treasury to give money to the ACLU or any other organization for "civil rights" lawsuits. Your Congress critter will be in your district during the month of December -- make the most of it.
Devvy Kidd authored the booklet, "Why A Bankrupt America and Blind Loyalty," which has sold close to 2,000,000 copies. She has been a guest more than 1,600 times on radio shows, run for Congress twice and is a highly sought after public speaker.

PULL PLUG ON ACLU
by Joseph Farah
Nov. 30, 2004
The American Civil Liberties Union, the misnamed, extremist persecutors of the Boy Scouts of America, claims to be fighting to end taxpayer support of religious groups. That was the excuse the ACLU used when it targeted the Boy Scouts use of military bases in a case in which the Pentagon caved into the neo-Talibanists of secular humanism.
But the dirty little secret the ACLU doesn't want you to know is that it, too, received significant funding of its jihad against Judaism, Christianity and the monotheistic roots of Western Civilization from the federal, state and local governments. And now that we know how easily government capitulates to the threat of lawsuits, it's time for someone to start suing over taxpayer support of this degenerate group of God-hating perverts. It would be that easy to shut off a major funding source to the ACLU -- your hard-earned tax dollars.
There are several ways Congress could do this very easily, with minor changes in the law. Since so many members of Congress -- nearly all of them are on record in opposing the Defense Department's appeasement of the ACLU, maybe one of these brave souls should move to change the civil-rights statute that permits the ACLU from collecting attorney fees from governments the organization takes to court.
CourtZero.org, a website dedicated to stemming judicial activism, is petitioning Congress to change 42 USC, Section 1988, of the United States Code that permits judges to award attorney fees to plaintiffs in civil-rights cases brought against local governments, thereby putting the taxpayers on the hook and oftentimes funneling public money to the ACLU. Simply changing the law so the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment would not apply could deprive the ACLU of millions of taxpayer dollars.
For instance, when the ACLU takes a city to court claiming a Christmas display violates the Establishment Clause, if the municipality loses, the city's taxpayers are often forced to pay ACLU attorneys. This law now creates an incentive for the ACLU to file ever more challenges of this kind. Do you want to know why the ACLU lawyers file these ridiculous lawsuits by the dozens? Because they get paid to do it -- by you.
Another way to take the financial incentive out of these suits legislatively is by passing a law that cuts back the standing of the ability to bring Establishment Clause claims. Currently, anyone who is offended by what they see, a Ten Commandments display, a manger scene, a Christmas tree or a menorah, can bring suit. Nowhere else in litigation is it so easy to make a claim. In most other areas of the law, you need to have a personal, direct injury.
The American Legion is calling on Congress to eliminate the financial incentives for the ACLU in Establishment Clause cases. It's about time we get behind this effort. It's time to shut off the money supply to the ACLU. This is the first step to destroying the evil organization -- putting a stake through its heart. Why should the people of the United States, through their Congress, be giving away millions of dollars to the ACLU so that the twisted legal minds of that organization can subvert our laws and impose their agenda on the rest of us?
We can give this dangerously seditious group no quarter any longer. The ACLU can not be tolerated. It is a hate group that supports the North American Man-Boy Love Association, an organized band of pedophiles and child rapists, while attacking the Boy Scouts. It's time to demand every member of Congress choose sides -- the ACLU or the Boy Scouts.

PETITION: GET ACLU OFF TAXPAYER DOLE
Nov. 25, 2004
by Ron Strom
Legal group awarded 1/2 million tax dollars for ridding courthouse of 10 Commandments
A new online petition asks Congress to change a specific civil-rights statute in hopes of preventing the American Civil Liberties Union from collecting attorney fees from taxpayers of local governments the organization takes to court.
The effort -- spearheaded by Craig McCarthy of CourtZero.org, a site dedicated to stemming judicial activism -- seeks to change 42 USC, Section 1988, of the United States Code. The statute now allows judges to award attorney fees to plaintiffs in civil-rights cases brought against local governments, thereby putting the taxpayers on the hook and oftentimes funneling public money to the ACLU. McCarthy wants the law changed so cases involving the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment would not apply.
When the ACLU takes a city to court claiming a Christmas display violates the Establishment Clause, for example, if the municipality loses, the city's taxpayers would not have to pay ACLU attorneys. Ending the financial incentive, McCarthy says, would cause the ACLU to decrease their anti-religion litigation.
"Asking the ACLU directly to cease their destructive behavior is unlikely to have much impact," McCarthy told WND, "but cutting off public funding of their activities would be both doable and effective."
McCarthy gave some examples of the effect of the current law, citing the case of Los Angeles County, which was threatened by the ACLU over its seal, which contained a small cross. Many law firms offered to defend the county against the ACLU for free in that instance, but the county didn't accept the offer. McCarthy says it's because the real expense for the county would be in paying the ACLU's attorney fees if it were to ultimately lose the case.
"Even if they get free attorneys, if they lose, the County's on the hook," he explained. McCarthy also mentioned the Ten Commandments case in Alabama involving Judge Roy Moore, saying taxpayers there were ordered to pay the ACLU "at least half a million dollars." Though he says he understands the reasons for the fees, he thinks the Establishment Clause cases have gotten out of hand.
"I don't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater," McCarthy said, "but I think it would resonate with most people. The Establishment Clause cases have gotten silly. We've been doing this for 30 years about everything ... it's like the ACLU is going from town to town" looking for things to sue over. "If you want to litigate Establishment Clause cases, have at it," he said, "but it shouldn't be taxpayer-supported anymore."
The online petition states, in part: "The ACLU has declared war on the Boy Scouts of America, the military of the United States, Christmas displays, public buildings that display the Ten Commandments, and many other American traditions...." The vast majority of taxpayers do not want to be forced to pay the ACLU to sue their neighbors and friends in the ACLU's efforts to strip America of all signs of faith....
"We, The People, call upon our elected representatives to amend USC, Section 1988, so that fees are not awarded to the ACLU or any other plaintiff in Establishment Clause cases. We wish for the Free Expression Clause to implicate at least the same financial incentives as attacks upon faith currently have." The Establishment Clause of the Constitution says, " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...."
Stop ACLU before going to court
Attorney Mathew Staver says he understands McCarthy's point but believes there's a better way to go about it. Staver is president and general counsel of Liberty Counsel, a nonprofit religious-liberties law firm. "What Congress ought to do is pass a statute that cuts back the standing of the ability to bring Establishment Clause claims," Staver said, which would limit who could file such a suit.
He says currently anyone who is "offended" by what they see, a Ten Commandments display, for example, can bring suit. "You can't do that in any other area of litigation," Staver said. "You've got to have a personal, direct injury.... "They need to get to the root of it, and the root of it is not whether the ACLU can get attorneys' fees," he told WND. "The root of it is who can bring these lawsuits."
Staver noted that the Supreme Court ruled against atheist Michael Newdow in the Pledge of Allegiance case because he didn't have "standing" or authority to actually bring the suit. He said he's opposed to eliminating the provision for attorney fees for Establishment Clause cases.
Instead, he said, "you ought to stop them before they can get to the courtroom." The attorney said there are some discussions on the federal level about limiting the standing on Establishment Clause cases.
Destroying the cross
The American Legion Department of California earlier this year passed a resolution also calling on Congress to eliminate the financial incentives for the ACLU in Establishment Clause cases. It asks Congress to "amend 42 USC, Section 1988, to expressly preclude the courts from awarding attorney fees under that statute, in lawsuits brought to remove or destroy religious symbols."
According to a report in the Record Gazette or Banning, Calif., the resolution was sparked by the decision of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals upholding the ACLU's claim that the solitary cross at what is now officially the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial violates the First Amendment and must be taken down.
Robert Castillo is a member of the veterans group and was part of the D-Day Normandy operation of World War II. "I can't believe that Congress is allowing judges to give the ACLU thousands of dollars to sue to get rid of a cross at a veterans memorial when we are sending kids to war again to defend our freedom against terrorists," Castillo told the paper.
"The ACLU has gone too far. There are 9,000 crosses and Stars of David at Normandy. My buddies are buried there. If the ACLU can destroy the cross at the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial, then they can destroy the crosses at Normandy, or Riverside Veterans Memorial Cemetery, or Arlington National."
McCarthy says he hopes to get some signatures on the petition and then begin "shopping it around" Capitol Hill for sponsorship.
