Dear Friends of the Constitutional Republic,
Living as we are in an anti-Christian age of euphemistic, lying language, it comes as no surprise to hear such deceptive talk regarding Terry Schiavo. But, the truth is that if this young woman's feeding tube is removed, she will have been murdered. But, of course, those who favor her being murdered do not use the word murder.
For example, a news report on CNN (2/21/05) about Schiavo said that her husband "wants to allow her to die." He wants to "allow" her to die? No, he wants to murder her by removing her feeding tube. And, repeatedly, it has been said, falsely, that she is in "a persistent vegetative state." But, whatever state she is in, it is not "vegetative." She is not a vegetable. She is an innocent, living human being.
A recent, unconscionable editorial in the liberal "Baltimore Sun" newspaper (2/25/05) was headlined: "Free Terri Schiavo." Noting that Schiavo has been kept "artificially alive" for 15 years by a feeding tube, it is said that it "borders on the monstrous" not to let Schiavo's body "take its natural course." The "Sun" says "the courts should quickly end this nightmare, and let Terri Schiavo go." Those who oppose keeping Schiavo alive should support removing her feeding tube, "they should set her free."
Now, this particular editorial --- and its use of the word "free" to describe murdering Schiavo --- is exceptionally evil in its use of lying language. Murder doesn't "free" anybody. Murder is a horrible crime. And there's nothing "artificial" about giving her food and liquids through a feeding tube. All human beings are kept alive by eating and drinking.
As for it bordering on the "monstrous" not to murder Schiavo by removing her feeding tube so her body can "take its natural course," these, too, are shameless, lying weasel-words to try and cover up the fact that this editorial is advocating Schiavo's murder. And to say "the courts" should quickly order her murder adds insult to injury.
As I read some recent stories about Terri Schiavo, I wondered what they would have looked like had they told the truth. For example, a "Baltimore Sun" news story (2/26/05) was headlined: "Schiavo Feeding Tube Removal OK'd." A truthful headline would have read: "Schiavo Murder OK'd."
A sub-headline on a "Washington Post" story (2/26/05) read: "Appeal Likely As Judge Sets March 18 Date In Schiavo Case." A truthful sub-headline would have read: "Appeal Likely As Judge Sets March 18 Date For Schiavo Murder."
In the body of this "Post" story, it is reported that because some allegations are being investigated, Florida's Department of Families and Children is trying "to delay the tube removal." A truthful report would have said Florida's Department of Families and Children is trying "to delay Schiavo's murder." This same "Post" story said that because of new medical studies, Schiavo's parents were "trying to delay the tube removal." A truthful report would have said that because of new medical studies, Schiavo's parents were "trying to delay Schiavo's murder."
In Isaiah 5:20, God, through the prophet, says: "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
"Woe," indeed, which means suffering and misery from affliction. God will judge all those who --- for whatever reason --- have advocated the murder of Terri Schiavo. Meanwhile, we should continue to pray that her life will be spared and that she will recover.
For God, Family, & the Republic,
Michael A. Peroutka
