SPOTLIGHT ON JUNEAU

ALASKA VOTERS ORGANIZATION NEWSLETTER
Kenai, AK
March 1, 2003

Hello Fellow Voters,

As of this date, the 23rd. Alaska State Legislature has introduced a total of 276 bills and resolutions for consideration, and there's no end in sight. All of these will have a price tag in one form or another.

Go to the Editorial page for some interesting and revealing public comments. There are three new letters this week for your review. Remember to copy us with your letters to the legislature and media, for possible inclusion on our editorial page.

A new batch of bills were introduced last week. Issues of questionable value have been posted on the Alerts page, with hyperlinks to bill text. Use the tools on our Action page to submit testimony before a committee hearing any bill(s) that concern you. For a complete schedule of committee meetings click here, and the type appropriate dates in space provided.

When you send letters or written testimony to the legislature remember to copy the media with your important message, because EVERYONE needs to know how you feel about the issues.

Survey Questions of the Week:

  1. There are 120 boards and commissions for the 600,000 people of Alaska. In your opinion is this too many, not enough, just right?
  2. HB 106 & SB 89 will remove most reporting now required for lobbyist, and allow them to raise more money for politicians. Do you feel this is good, bad, or OK for Alaska?
  3. SB 80 will allow for election day registration. Do you agree or disagree this would help increase voter turnout?

Please forward this message to everyone you know in Alaska, and ask them to do the same. Everyone is welcome and strongly encouraged to join AK Voters. It is absolutely FREE to join, and each member automatically receives future issues of the "Spotlight on Juneau". Working together we CAN and WILL make a positive difference for Alaska's future!
