Malcolm is 8. He is 4 feet tall and 60 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing light colored blue jeans, a black coat, and red Nike tennis shoes.
Isaiah is 5. He is 3 feet tall and 40 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing dark jeans, a red and gray coat and white tennis shoes.
The boys' photos are posted on the Municipal website at www.muni.org.
Property Tax Assessment Working Group
Recognizing public interest in the property tax assessment process, I have assembled a working group of officials to review recommendations for streamlining the process. The group has been asked to complete their work in 90 days.
The group will consist of four Assembly members, Dan Kendall, Doug Van Etten, Dan Sullivan, and Fay Von Gemmingen and three members of the administration, George Cannelos, Kate Giard and Mike Scott who will be advised by the State Assessor and Municipal Assessor. The Municipality of Anchorage will also request advisory assistance from members of the Board of Equalization.
The group will look at the way appeals get handled, community purpose property tax exemptions and other issues related to property valuation procedures.
Glacier/Winner Creek Development Update
The City announced today that it will begin updating the economic development report for the Glacier/Winner Creek Development. The development has the potential to attract up to $400 million of private investment into the Girdwood Valley. A decade ago, the Girdwood Area Plan recognized the need to develop new resort and recreational facilities and continue growth Girdwood community. To help with the proposed plan, the City will be seeking State legislation guaranteeing a continuing moratorium on mining in the area. Girdwood 2020, a private non-profit organization, will be aggressively marketing the concept to potential developers and to the community.
