I can't be more proud to be an American.
Watching yesterday's tragedy unfold filled me with fear. But at the same time, I had this feeling of hope because no matter where I turned here in New York City, I saw people helping other people.
In checking the yourfreepresent.com website I found more notes than I could possibly answer, from people asking how they can lend a hand, and help to erase some of the horror with kindness. Here's what you can do:
- Donate blood. Simply go to the blood bank in your home town and ask where you can give. It's easy. It's painless. And it's totally safe. I plan to do it this afternoon. For more information contact the American Red Cross: redcross.org/donate/donate.html or call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE
- New York City police are gathering food and clothes that will sustain the victims and their families for many weeks to come. To find out where you can give call the Red Cross or Salvation Army in your area
.
How can I help?
Visit www.fema.gov for more information.
Keep your courage and strength. Pray for peace.
Most sincerely yours
