Hi guys!
I'm thrilled to say I got my very first copy of my new album
"Every Single Day" in the mail today, the artwork and packaging and
everything, and I'm really, really happy with it. The release date is now
Sept. 11, and I think that's pretty much written in stone.
I had a great time at the Kate Wolf Memorial Festival in California: got to
sing with Eliza Gilkyson (man, I just love her voice, check out her albums
if you're not familiar with her), and she sang with me in my set (including
a beautiful harmony on "By Way of Sorrow"). I also got to meet and hang
with Arlo Guthrie, who was actually incredibly nice and down to earth, and
very, very funny. And I met the one and only Wavy Gravy; never met anyone
before who has a Ben and Jerry's flavor named after them.
Also, the great Nina Gerber accompanied me on guitar, which was really fun,
as always. By the way, Nina has just released her very first album. It's
called "Not Before Noon," and it's pretty stunning. I'm a special guest on
it, singing an old Nanci Griffith song "Working in Corners". There's a
bunch of other guest vocalists, including Greg Brown performing a song he
wrote about Kate Wolf that's never been recorded before (it's totally
awesome). You can order the album by writing to info@ninagerber.com
Also, I got to do a gig with Dar Williams, and I hadn't sung with her in a
long time, and we sang a bunch of songs together, which actually made me
very nostalgic for a certain band I used to be in.
I have a couple of band gigs coming up: on 7/18 at the World Trade Center
in New York City and on 8/5 in Bozeman, MT. See below for details.
