HAPPY
BIRTHDAY AMERICA AND FREEDOM WRITER
By FreedomWriter
Anchorage, Alaska
June 20, 2001
On
July 4, 2001 the United States of America will be 225 years old.
On June 26, 2001 FREEDOM
WRITER will be 2 years old. Many changes have transpired since
our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, honor, and fortunes for
the birth of a new nation conceived in liberty. Many changes have
also been viewed by the readers of FREEDOMWRITER.COM. Let's explore
some of these growth changes in the USA and in FREEDOM WRITER.
America
began as 13 colonies who called themselves States as an act of separation
from England & Great Britain. Now America boasts 50 such states
stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceans, with federally
protected territories in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam,
and American Samoa. America began as a loose Confederation of those
original 13 with a weak national government headed by a President
annually elected by Congress (until the present Constitution was
written and signed on September 17, 1787 and later ratified). Now
America has a huge burdensome and intrusive national government
headed by a President elected to no more than 2 consecutive 4 year
terms; in association with a Congress that sees no end to its legislative
powers while making themselves millionaires at the taxpayers' enpense
while alleging to do "the people's business"; in association
with a federal judiciary that more often than not makes new case
law rather than interpreting laws as a function of the Constitution.
America began as a social experiment in states and individual rights.
Now America flirts with the junction in the road: Return to a democratically
elected Republic with limited government or proceed to a national
socialistic welfare state. The rock group Steppenwolf, in it's 1970's
song "Monster", asked the right question at the height
of the Vietnam War: "America where are you now, don't you care
about your sons and daughters? Don't you know we need you now, we
can't fight alone against the Monster."
Early
American was a nation of farmers, small business merchants, new
manufacturing trades based upon abundant natural resources, homemakers,
and (thank God it eventually ended
) some slave owners. Present
day America has seen its family farms almost extinct, small businesses
being bought out by large unaccountable corporations because they
(the small businesses) cannot afford the increased taxation and
regulations, a two household family where the wife works to pay
the extra taxes and then has to pay for her children's daycare,
a once formidable private manufacturing sector that produced an
"Arsenal of Democracy" that won 2 world wars and rebuilt
from ashes both Europe and Japan that is now reduced to almost nil
thanks to the sovereignty-robbing global trade agreements of unrepresentative
international organizations. America reached its zenith of economic
power in the 20th century and now must decide to either recapture
that momentum or succumb as a third world global plantation headed
by a few international businessmen who see no wrong in trading with
dictatorships who deprive their own citizens of human rights and
private wealth in the 21st century.
With
a divided Congress under a Republican controlled House of Representatives
and a Democratically controlled Senate, and with a new Republican
Party controlled Presidential administration led by Pres. George
W. Bush, we Americans have entered the new millennium in which to
debate these fundamental questions again.

Freedom
Writer (FREEDOMWRITER.COM) began in 1999 out of the corruption of
the scandal ridden Clinton administration and the frustration with
the Republicans' inability to bring him to justice to explore these
fundamental issues, not only in America but also in Alaska. From
it's humble origins in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, FREEDOM WRITER
has grown so that it's website host server is now in Oregon and
it's website producer is in Arizona and it's headquarters remains
in Anchorage. FREEDOM WRITER began with a few local writers and
artists and it's exclusive DOCUMENTS OF FREEDOM section, interactive
opinion polls, and internet guestbook. FREEDOM WRITER now boasts
an inventory of mostly American made products in our TRADING POST
section, an expanding LINKS section, a larger DOCUMENTS OF FREEDOM
section, a new CONSUMER section, a new ARTS & LITERATURE section,
an internet guestbook with signers from all over, and authors and
contributors from all across Alaska, America, Great Britain, and
Australia. As Founder, Publisher, and Editor of FREEDOM WRITER,
I want to thank all of you who have helped FREEDOM WRITER get to
it's 2nd birthday candle.
Just
as "most is good" with America other than the above-mentioned
trends, as we try to shore up our national, state, local, business,
and family budgets, FREEDOM WRITER also struggles to meet its bottom
line. In order for you readers, writers, and artists to continue
to enjoy FREEDOM WRITER, we hope you can also purchase FREEDOM WRITER
products from our TRADING POST, buy
ad space, and tell others about
FREEDOMWRITER.COM. FREEDOM WRITER contributors enjoy a 25% discount
on products and ad rates so why not be one today! Help FREEDOM WRITER
and AMERICA achieve another birthday and buy FREEDOM WRITER products
and BUY AMERICAN!
