BAY BUCHANAN CALLS ON BUSH CO-CHAIR TO PUT PAT BUCHANAN ON MICHIGAN
BALLOT
September 13, 2000
On
the heels of yesterday's FEC affirmation that Pat Buchanan is
the Reform Party nominee and today's California Superior Court
ruling enjoining John Hagelin from using the Reform Party name,
Bay Buchanan called on Candice Miller, Michigan Secretary of State
and Bush campaign co-chair to reconsider her decision to keep
Pat Buchanan off Michigan's ballot.
"Yesterday,
the Federal Election Commission decided 5-to-1 that Pat Buchanan
is the rightful Reform Party candidate and unanimously rejected
John Hagelin's claim. Today, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge
James Wright forbade the Hagelin faction from representing John
Hagelin as the Reform nominee.
"We
recognize that some Secretaries of State have been confused by
conflicting claims, but now that the FEC and Superior Court have
decisively affirmed that Pat Buchanan is the Reform Party candidate,
we expect Ms. Miller to join the 30 of 31 other states who have
settled this dispute by placing Pat Buchanan on their ballots."
