Electronic Commerce Industry Coalition to Report on Recommendations
to Department of Defense

WASHINGTON,
D.C. (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Federal Electronic Commerce Coalition,
an alliance of 18 industry organizations, will release a series
of findings and recommendations on electronic business at E-GOV
2000, July 11, 2000, in Washington, D.C.
The
Coalition has been working together with the Department of Defense
(DoD) for the last year on issues affecting a viable electronic
business working environment between the DoD and industry. This
initiative evolved as an outcome of a May 4, 1999 Electronic Commerce
Conference hosted by then Deputy Secretary John Hamre and attended
by several hundred industry and DoD personnel.

DoD/Industry working groups, comprised of high ranking industry
and DoD officials, were formed to make recommendations in the areas

groups completed their work on this collaborative initiative and
reported to the Deputy Secretary of Defense, Rudy Deleon, on June
20, 2000 at the Pentagon. The groups will present their findings
and recommendations to the public at E-GOV 2000 on Tuesday, July
11, 2000 from 10 a.m. -- 12 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center.

member organizations of the Federal Electronic Commerce Coalition
were actively involved in the development of this initiative with
the Department of Defense:
The
Federal Electronic Commerce Coalition is comprised of 18 industry
associations representing subject matter expertise from more than
8,000 companies. Formed in early 1999, the FECC works as an active
partner with the government in identifying and integrating the strategies,
policies and practices to be implemented by government organizations
in conducting electronic business with private sector entities,
citizens and each other.
