By BUSINESS WIRE
July 6, 2000

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Federal Electronic Commerce Coalition, an alliance of 18 industry organizations, will release a series of findings and recommendations on electronic business at E-GOV 2000, July 11, 2000, in Washington, D.C.

The Coalition has been working together with the Department of Defense (DoD) for the last year on issues affecting a viable electronic business working environment between the DoD and industry. This initiative evolved as an outcome of a May 4, 1999 Electronic Commerce Conference hosted by then Deputy Secretary John Hamre and attended by several hundred industry and DoD personnel.

The DoD/Industry working groups, comprised of high ranking industry and DoD officials, were formed to make recommendations in the areas of:

Incentives for Adoption of Electronic Business
Information Security for Electronic Business
Performance Measures for Electronic Business
Software Quality and Interoperability for Electronic Business.

The groups completed their work on this collaborative initiative and reported to the Deputy Secretary of Defense, Rudy Deleon, on June 20, 2000 at the Pentagon. The groups will present their findings and recommendations to the public at E-GOV 2000 on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 from 10 a.m. -- 12 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center.

Five member organizations of the Federal Electronic Commerce Coalition were actively involved in the development of this initiative with the Department of Defense:

Association for Enterprise Integration (AFEI)
Industry Advisory Council (IAC)
Information Technology Association of America (ITAA)
Interoperability Clearinghouse (ICHnet.org)
