NO
TIME TO SPARE
By Steve Myers
July 18, 2000
I went to see a movie this week. For those of you who don't understand
the significance of that sentence, it is not the routine statement
it might be for anyone else. Though I have watched the occasional
movie on video, this was only my second time in a movie theater
in 15 years. The film I saw was The Patriot, the epic, often harrowing
tale set in South Carolina during the war of independence. It
is highly recommended. It helped me crystallize thoughts which
had been brewing in my mind for some months.
I
apologize for the recent infrequency of this column. I am trying
to return to my normal writing schedule. Since my mother died
last August, I have needed to take some time away from writing,
to contemplate many things. One of them was whether I should take
American citizenship. You may understand how profound a decision
this is for me. On one hand, can I leave behind my parents, now
both buried in England, and everything with which I grew up? On
the other, though I love England very much and enjoy being there,
I have grown to love America more than I can tell you, and I love
the liberty and justice for which it stands. I have studied American
history, I have traveled the length and breadth of this great
nation which I have called home for the past twelve years. And
above all, God has called me to be here. Permit me to share with
you, therefore, that as soon as Bill Clinton is out of the White
House (and as soon as they have had the place thoroughly fumigated)
I plan to begin the process that leads to citizenship.
In
the past few months, my life has changed beyond recognition. I
now do radio news at 7 am and 8 am Monday through Friday. I also
produce Speakout, our Saturday broadcast for teenagers, as well
as compile and edit a daily online newspaper, Page 1 News, and
run the American Renewal Foundation. And as if this weren't enough
for me, I now also host The Newshour, our weekday news program,
which is broadcast at 6 pm Eastern Time. It makes for an overwhelmingly
busy life, and I am trying to delegate some functions. Please
bear with me. And please do listen in to those broadcasts!
Since
my last column, I have also been in Israel, where events are moving
towards a climax. The question of who killed Yitzhak Rabin is
still a hot topic. Yes, they have their Lee Harvey Oswald, but
the real killers appear to be still very much on the loose. Former
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to be vilified in
the media, and there seems little effective political opposition
to the New World Order plan to give away huge chunks of the country.
The so-called Palestinians, who have a homeland across the River
Jordan in 82% of Palestine, are demanding 100% of the Biblical
lands of Judea and Samaria, the West Bank, which was regained
by Israel in 1967. Prime Minister Ehud Barak is the NWO Puppet,
whose strings are being pulled by Henry Kissinger, David Rockefeller
and their operative, Bill Clinton. He says he is willing to give
away 92%. Most of the Israeli public wants to give away no land
whatsoever.
Many
secular Jews are leaving Israel for the greener - and much cheaper
- pastures of the United States, Canada and other Western countries.
They rightly wonder why they should continue paying half a million
US dollars for an apartment and over five dollars a gallon for
gasoline. To sustain a Zionist dream that no longer exists? And
in return for their exorbitant taxes, they are ostracized by the
Orthodox Jews who hold the balance of power in Israel's parliament.
The
so-called Middle East Peace Process, complete with its one-sided
compromises, and its artificial rhetoric and deadlines, is totally
the work of Bill Clinton and his NWO allies. It really ought to
be abandoned and reversed immediately. Perhaps we should be patient
until oil is replaced by synthetic energy. There's little point
to peace if your nation is reduced to the size of a few football
fields.
Back
in the United States, the phony election campaign continues. In
January 1997, we told you the NWO plans for George W. Bush to
become the next president. Over a year ago, we told you his Cabinet.
There is little new to report. The Democrats see electoral annihilation
ahead. They see the popular George W. Bush picking up the presidency
with such ease that he could well help the Republicans not to
lose the House, as they have been trying so hard to do. The Senate
will stay Republican anyway, and Democrats foresee a catastrophe
for the liberals: with at least three, probably four Supreme Court
retirements due, all three branches of government could be in
the hands of conservatives, or at least, Republicans.
There
are currently three conservative Supreme Court justices: Chief
Justice Rehnquist, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. There are
three strong liberals: John Paul Stevens, Stephen Breyer and Ruth
Bader Ginsburg. David Souter, (A George Bush appointee), Anthony
Kennedy and Sandra Day O'Connor are in the middle. It is an open
secret that Justices Rehnquist, Stevens and O'Connor wish to retire,
and cancer may well force Justice Ginsburg to do so too. A conservative
court could change the culture and character of America for a
generation, and would change it for the better. And that is why
the Democrats will try everything they can to prevent it. They
will lie, deceive and accuse, just as the devil himself does.
America's
heart is sick of socialism, even though, like the mustard and
coffee here, socialism has been tried only in its mildest form.
Yet, to those who love liberty and truth, even mild socialism
is detestable. It is not the America for which great patriots
fought, bled and died. A succession of left-wing liberal administrations
and weak conservative ones has presided over a severe erosion
of the Constitution, and the jettison of the many of the liberties
and values on which this great nation was founded. Christianity
is eschewed as pornography used to be: any mention of it in a
public school leads to severe punishment. The Supreme Court says
it is unconstitutional to pray in public schools. With respect
to the distinguished justices, they have it upside-down: it is
the public schools which are unconstitutional, not prayer.
So
what are we to do? Some may choose to do nothing and they have
that right. I know what I will do. I didn't announce my choice.
I just get out of bed at the very first crack of light every day,
and I do all I can to labor until after nightfall for this great
nation we call America. I have tasks to perform: broadcasting,
encouraging, ministering and yes, writing. I'm just a regular
soldier in the army of patriots that sees past all the fluff,
White House-media lies and propaganda which have distorted our
reality these past years.
I
urge you into action too, for there is no time to spare: do what
God has called you to do, and do it to the best of your ability,
seeking His wisdom, strength and guidance. Let's not wait until
it's too late as Israel has done. I believe God still wants to
bless America, even though we have marginalized and rejected Him.
As ever, the Bible makes clear our course of action, as individuals
and as a nation: "Those who honor me I will honor, but those who
despise me will be disdained." (1 Samuel 2:30)
I
labor for those I love: first, the Lord Jesus Christ and secondly,
America. We have the same choice that Joshua outlined to the Children
of Israel: "Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve.
But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." (Joshua
24: 15) And as you serve Him, may His blessing be upon you, and
upon America.
