SHAKE
THE ESTABLISHMENT
By Buchanan Reform Committee
July 18, 2000
Established
in 1987, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) "provides
the best possible information to viewers and listeners"-not so
for the 2000 presidential debates. Co-chairman Frank Fahrenkopf
(Republican) and Co-chairman Paul Kirk (Democrat), along with
the nodding heads of approval from the Establishment, have determined
to retain Pat Buchanan (most likely the Reform Party nominee)
from debating King George W. Bush and Prince Albert Gore in the
debates this fall. The Reform Party is a recognized party, and
they receive federal matching funds-tax dollars of every American.
Not only is the CPD violating the rights of the Reform Party candidate
to debate on national television, but they are also violating
the rights of every American by proliferating a shadow on a valid
third choice. As of right now, the tax dollars of hard-working
Americans are being discarded to prevent a possible threat to
the two-party system that continues to dominate and dictate American
politics. To suspend an "outside" contender for the presidency
is unconstitutional and it infringes on those from which the power
of government is derived-the people.
Separating
Bush and Gore are two words: Republican and Democrat. They are
two peas in a peapod. The CPD conspiracy to demand a 15% support
of five national polling organizations to qualify for the debates
is absurd! Since when did Americans vote the Poll Amendment to
the Constitution as a qualification for President of the United
States? America needs to vote according to principle not polls.
The CPD, along with McNeil/Lehrer Productions will also produce
a two-hour special on PBS entitled "Debating Our Destiny" (more
like "Dictating Our Destiny").
"Let's
be plain," Buchanan stated. "This is nothing but a Beltway conspiracy
by the two Establishment parties to corner the market forever
on the presidency of the United States." As we continue to witness
this mockery of an election, it is time that the silent be heard.
This "aristocratic" form of government must not prevail. During
the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia (July 31st-August
3rd) and the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles (August
14th-17th), shake the Establishment by voicing your constitutional
rights. Make the voice of justice at these events heard.
The
American people need a choice this fall. Remember, never do anything
against your conscience, even when the Establishment demands it.
